You must decide if this property is going to be a long term home or part of a 3 to 5 year plan. If it’s the latter, often being able to afford the long term home on the next move becomes the focal point for this search.
The two can without doubt go hand in hand, however it will often be the places that allow you to add curb appeal that will give you the better long term investment. Often buyers are anxious about what family and friends will think of their investment, but you need to decide if you want them to be blown away by the beautiful street it’s located on or how successful an investment it was.
Question 2: How far is ‘too far’ from the local transportation?
When you find a property you like, the extra few minutes’ walk to the local transportation often is less important. It’s important not to miss out on great properties by being set back only by a few roads.
So you want to be near transport links? The great news is in Istanbul there are many metro stations, metro tubes , metro buses,Marmaray , plus trams and main road highway links . We also live in a busy working city, so naturally no one wants to spend longer on their commute than needs be. However, bear in mind this will always affect property prices. A three minute walk to the metro would of course be nice, but how about a 15 minutes to airport walk and save on the gym membership?
Question 3: How much work do I really want to do?
Many buyers like the idea of having a ‘property project’ to add their own mark on. However the reality of a project is often very different to what a buyer has in mind.
The good thing about property is that it is the one investment you can actually physically add value to yourself.
